He has been depressed since his wife died 8 years ago. His house is old and in need of substantial repairs and is very cold in winter. There is no heating as Joseph feels he cannot afford the power bills to heat the house. Joseph receives an aged care pension payment every fortnight. He is physically frail and is at times unsteady on his feet and has had a few falls. Joseph has hypertension that is managed with medication and no other known medical conditions. He drinks approximately 4 beers on approximately 4-5 nights of the week. He has a strained relationship with his daughter Pricilla who has reported to the practice nurse that Joseph’s drinking has slowly increased since he lost his wife. The practice nurse has noted that Joseph appears sleepy, morose, withdrawn and lacking emotional expression despite the antidepressants he has been prescribed. Joseph has basic cooking skills however finds that cooking for one person is too much bother most of the time. Joseph has had a strong faith and attends his place of worship regularly however he chooses not to socialise as he believes that the community are only offering him pity since his wife died and he does not want people to feel sorry for him.
Assignment Questions:
Based on the above case study, and with reference to evidence-based literature:
1) Evaluate 3 biological theories of ageing that may explain physiological effects of ageing and specifically how these changes may impact Joseph.
2) Analyse the physical changes that occur in the cardiovascular system that may increase health risks for Joseph.
3) Identify factors that may put Joseph at risk of depression and analyse how this may increase health risks for him.
4) Identify and analyse one sociological risk factor that may influence Joseph’s health risk.
Instructions for this assessment task:
• Assignment should be presented with each of the four (4) questions as subheadings (subheadings are not included in word count).
• This task is to be written in third person and each response must be supported with evidence-based literature.
• You are not required to include an introduction or conclusion.
Presentation requirements:
The School of Nursing and Midwifery follows the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th edition referencing style. He has hypertension, which is managed with medication and is physically frail, leading to him being unsteady on his feet and having a few falls. Joseph has a strained relationship with his daughter and consumes approximately four beers on four to five nights a week. He appears sleepy, morose, and withdrawn despite taking antidepressants, and has lost interest in socializing. The following essay will evaluate biological theories of ageing, analyze the physical changes in the cardiovascular system that increase health risks for Joseph, identify factors that put him at risk of depression and analyze how this increases his health risks. Additionally, one sociological risk factor that influences Joseph’s health risks will be identified and analyzed.

Biological Theories of Ageing
Three biological theories of ageing are as follows:

1.1 The Free Radical Theory

According to the free radical theory of ageing, ageing is caused by the accumulation of free radicals in cells over time. Free radicals are produced as a by-product of cellular metabolism and can cause oxidative stress, leading to cellular damage and ageing. Joseph may be affected by this theory because he is experiencing oxidative stress due to his hypertension, which is managed with medication.

1.2 The Programmed Theory

The programmed theory of ageing suggests that ageing is the result of genetic programming that controls the rate of ageing. This theory proposes that cells are programmed to divide a limited number of times and that this process leads to ageing. Joseph may be affected by this theory because he is experiencing a decline in cell division, which is associated with ageing.

1.3 The Wear and Tear Theory

The wear and tear theory of ageing proposes that the body wears out over time due to the cumulative effects of damage and repair. This theory suggests that the body is constantly exposed to environmental stresses, such as pollutants and radiation, which cause damage that the body then repairs. However, over time, the body’s ability to repair this damage decreases, leading to

HNN318 Care of the Older Person Assessment Task Number ONE – Case Study 2000 words – 50% unit weighting Purpose of assessment task This assessment…

[10099,10681,7636,615,10892,10680,10891
10553,10616,10254,10896,10897,10247,10295,10898,10893,10894,10895,10899,10551
post-127510","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-buy-essay","category-cheap-dissertation-help-online","category-cheap-essay-writer-usa","category-homework-help-writing-service-usa","category-page-paper","category-university-dissertation-writing-service","category-write-my-assignment-ireland","tag-1-assignment-help-online-service-for-students-in-the-usa","tag-australian-best-tutors","tag-can-someone-write-my-assignment-for-me","tag-case-study-in-nursing-writing-a-nursing-case-study-essay","tag-free-nursing-case-studies","tag-help-me-write-my-dissertation","tag-homework-for-you","tag-nursing-case-study-assignment-examples","tag-nursing-case-study-examples","tag-nursing-case-study-presentation-example","tag-nursing-case-study-questions-and-answers","tag-student-nurse-case-study-assignments","tag-write-my-assignment-help-for-college-students
["GET
